Review: Quince 100% Organic Cotton Striped Crew Sweater for Toddlers

Last Updated on February 17, 2025 by travelingwithsunscreen

I’ve been a fan of Quince sweaters for myself for a while now, so when I saw they had sweaters for toddlers, I figured I’d give one a try. Quince is known for high-quality clothing at more affordable prices, and Quince’s 100% Organic Cotton Striped Crew Sweater seemed like a great staple for my little one’s wardrobe. We live in a cold climate, and we often travel in the winter to other cold climates, so I’m always on the lookout for clothes that will keep my little guy cozy! Now that we’ve had a chance to try it out, I have some thoughts on the fit, quality, and overall wearability. Here’s my honest review of Quince’s 100% Organic Striped Crew Sweater for toddlers.

Soft, Stylish, and Easy to Wear

Right out of the package, I liked the feel of the fabric. The cotton is substantial enough to be warm (I layer it over a long-sleeved T-shirt in cold winter weather), but still breathable and easy to move in. The sweater is also GRS-certified, which means it meets certain sustainability and ethical production standards.

When I ordered, I was a little nervous about stains on the white fabric (because, you know, toddlers). So far, though, it hasn’t been a problem. I’ve pre-treated a couple of stains before washing, and they’ve come out easily. The fabric still looks great after multiple washes, which is always a relief when it comes to toddler clothes.

The Quince Toddler Crew Sweater Runs Small—Definitely Size Up

The biggest thing to know about the toddler striped crew sweater? It runs small. My toddler usually wears 18-month clothing, so I ordered 18-24M, thinking it would leave him a little extra room to grow. Nope. If anything, it fits smaller than some of our 18M sweaters from other brands.

Compared to a Baby Gap 18M sweater, which seems to fit true-to-size, this one is shorter in the torso but longer in the sleeves. The longer arms aren’t a huge deal since the cuffs keep them from sliding down over his hands, but the shorter length makes me wish I had gone up another size. It fits pretty perfectly now, actually, but probably won’t in a couple of months. I’d recommend sizing up at least one, maybe even two sizes for a more comfortable fit.

Luckily, Quince has a fantastic return policy—365 days when unwashed and unworn, no questions asked. You just pack it up and drop it off at the post office with a QR code, which makes returns and exchanges exchanges really easy. (No printing required!) So, if you’re not sure about the sizing, it doesn’t hurt to just take your best guess, and trade it in if the fit isn’t quite right.

What I Love About This Crew Sweater

Even though the sizing is a bit off, there are a lot of things I love about Quince’s Striped Crew Sweater for toddlers. First, the neckline is super stretchy, which makes dressing a wiggly toddler way easier. I don’t have to wrestle it over my little one’s head like I do with some sweaters. The stretchy fabric also makes it easy to move in, so my toddler is comfy as he romps around all day. The fabric is soft and breathable, too, so it’s comfortable for all-day wear without being itchy or stiff.

Style-wise, it’s adorable. The classic stripe goes with everything, and it works equally well for a casual day at library story time or for a slightly dressed-up outfit. As an added bonus, it’s completely gender-neutral, so it could be passed down easily.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I love Quince’s toddler cotton striped crew sweater—I just wish I had sized up. The quality is excellent, the organic cotton feels really nice, and the stretchy neckline makes dressing easy-peasy. If you’re thinking about getting it, I highly recommend going up a size (or two) for the best fit.

For parents who want sustainable, well-made toddler clothes, this is a great option. And with Quince’s generous return policy, it’s easy to exchange if you don’t get the size right the first time.
